Help Textiles West achieve our mission to create opportunities for sustainability in textiles

and keep alive the skills, techniques and traditions of all forms of textile arts.

Your donations help us to continue our mission and vision to create a cleaner world full of beautiful textiles.

We at Textiles West are so excited to share some of the incredible programs we are working on for 2019 and beyond.

Get on the Alpaca Bus! This mobile program will bring fiber and textile education to schools and community organizations to teach traditional techniques and bring awareness of the massive eco-footprint of textiles on the planet. It is the rare child who knows that their hat came from the fiber of a sheep or that their tee shirt was grown from a plant called cotton.

Textiles West advocates for textile sustainability. In the works are: an independent film series to start the discussion, free mending days, collaborations with Mountains and Plains Fiber Shed and other local sustainability organizations and ultimately, our goal is a symposium on textile sustainability. Our natural dye garden will once again be blooming at Flying Pig Farm.

We just celebrated our 3rd Tactile event this fall at Manitou Art Center. Hosting this free community event is the highlight of our year and we are already planning for next year. We build community through our Stitching Community Together project and are partnering with both The Fine Arts Center Bemis School of Art, Colorado Collage and Pikes Peak Library District to share the breadth and depth of the Colorado Springs Community.

Our line-up of workshops and classes for 2019 is exciting and we are bringing in some incredible teachers from our region and around the country. Our partnership with Pikes Peak Library District will help us reach deeper into the region with events and classes. Stay tuned for details about a scholarship program funded with a beautiful fashion show next fall.

Textiles West has grown steadily since a group of 8 textile artists first sat down at a table to dream this organization into being. We have been operating as a 100% volunteer organization since our inception. Because we have grown so quickly our small team's volunteer positions have grown into full time jobs. It is time to begin paying some of our dedicated staff for their hard work.

We are asking for your help to allow us to grow our reach into the community, continue teaching the traditions and skills of textile and fiber arts and raise the consciousness of the effect of textiles on the planet and what we can each do about it.

Our fundraising goal is $20,000. Please consider supporting Textiles West this year.
