This is a perfect refresher or intro to learn about working with fiber reactive dyes and a few resist techniques. Over four weeks, each class two hours long, you will be educated on dye lab safety, how to properly mix, apply and set fiber reactive dyes, and learn the simplicity of acid dyes. Create fabric samples using immersion dyeing (hot & cold) and work with thickened dyes. Also, you will learn a few resist techniques using shibori, water based resist, potato dextrin and tape.

By the end of this class you will understand the proper way to work in our dye lab and create cool fabrics!

*Successful completion of this class can provide you with certification to rent dye lab.

Materials Fee: $20.00   include fabric, roving, yarn and chemicals and dyes.

Student Supply list: Dust Mask & Gloves

Class Level Fascination – These classes will introduce you to a new skill, concept or technique and are open to all levels. The student may, however, be required to have a basic skill or have taken a certification class. For example, for a flat-pattern drafting class one need not know anything about flat-pattern drafting but should have a basic understanding of the sewing machine. Any prerequisites will be listed in the class description.
