Kantha stitching is found in Indian Textiles and like Japanese Boro and American Quilting, was born out of the need to 'make do'.
In this workshop we will be working with a variety of sheer fabrics to create a luscious surface to stitch. Sheers will be pre-fused so students can spend the workshop designing, fusing, and stitching their sheers onto a cloth or felt substrate. Students will use embroidery thread to create linear Kantha-style stitchery. The result will be a lovely textile piece that can be used in a wide variety of projects!
Materials fee: $20 for sheers, base, and some embroidery thread! All we need is YOU!
Student supply list: readers and thimble if you use them.
