Education for Artisans:
A Sustainable Future for Craft Traditions
Judy Frater has spent the last 29 years working with textile artisans of Kutch, India. In the second half of this period, she developed the first educational institute for artisans in India. She takes us on the journey of learning the obstacles artisans face, and the amazing changes that a year-long program in design education has made.
The talk is followed by a trunk show of amazing resist dyed textiles presented by two artisan design graduates who are teaching the Dying with the Masters workshop.
Refreshments will be served and there will be opportunities for purchasing these exquisite textiles.
