Class Description: Class description:  You have passed sewing 101 now what?  How about making an adjustable apron that will

fit the Grill Master in your house or the Darling Hostess.  You will be learning such skills as:

How to pick the right fabric

How to make a casing and thread a ribbon through it

How to hem

How to machine appliqué

How to add a pocket

How to add piping…and so much more

Student supply list: A working sewing machine that you are familiar with or we do have a few Bernina sewing machines available if you do not have a machine, you do not want to bring your machine to class or you have troubles during class. If you bring your machine do not forget the power cord, all of your presser feet (a zipper foot is a must) and accessories, empty bobbins, and sewing manual for your machine.  Also bring your sewing kit made up of pins, sharp fabric scissors, marking tools, seam gauge, seam ripper and any other accessories that help you sew.

Please E-mail me for a hand out on what fabric to buy and where you can get it locally.

1 yard of at least 44 inch wide pillow ticking, Waverly, or twill fabric for the body of the apron and the front pocket (must be pre washed before class)

¼ yard of a plain colored quilter’s cotton in a contrasting color for the inside of your pocket and the fork and spoon appliqué on the front of the apron. (must be pre washed before class)

1 package of Piping

Matching thread 40 weight poly cotton

Gross grain ribbon 3 yards long and   5/8 wide

Microtex 80/12 or Top Stitch 80/12 sewing machine needles

Number of hours for class:   3 hours 

Class Level: Fascination – These classes will introduce you to a new skill, concept or technique and are open to all levels. The student may, however, be required to have a basic skill or have taken a certification class. For example, for a flat-pattern drafting class one need not know anything about flat-pattern drafting but should have a basic understanding of the sewing machine. Any prerequisites will be listed in the class description.
